Men’s facials are similar to women’s facials but are formulated to adapt to the specific needs of men’s skin. Common problems that men face is often shaving related, such as razor burn and ingrown hairs or other conditions such as dullness and sensitivity. Some men’s facials target acne or aging while some target skin that has been damaged by the elements like sun and wind.
Why should men get facials?
Men’s skin is 25% thicker, has a higher collagen density and produces more sebum oil, which can lead to more breakouts. Clearing out a man’s pores (extractions) will prevent breakouts and reduce enlarged pores. Equally important is exfoliation (the removal of dead skin cells) as it can help to mitigate ingrown hairs and remove dead skin, giving men a closer shave.
What happens during a men’s facial?
At Snatched Lab we begin by deeply cleansing the skin before exfoliating away dead skin cells using an enzyme mask or microdermabrasion, steaming open pores and performing extractions to clear individually clogged pores. We include a vigorous face and neck massage, and finish with the application of a custom cooling mask.
The skin will feel noticeably clean and soft after just one facial but committing to a facial one a month will maintain the glowing benefits. The reason is that it takes approximately one month for skin cells to go through their entire life cycle, meaning that the skin on the face will have dead, dull skin cells ready to be sloughed off again by the end of that one-month time frame. However, even the occasional men’s facial will improve the appearance of facial skin and help to look younger, healthier and may even offer a smoother shave! And let’s not overlook keeping up with an at-home skin care routine. Using recommended skin care products every single day will make a difference between appointments.
